Red Cliff Activities
Shrine Pass: Located right off the main street of Red Cliff is the entrance to one of Colorado’s most picturesque and easily accessible wilderness roads. Whether your adventuring by foot, car or four wheeler, dirt bike or mountain bike, this Pass is accessible year-round. Load up at Green Bridge Provisions with sack lunches and beverages and head up the Pass for a day of great outdoor activities. And don’t think the fun stops when the snow falls! Shrine Pass is a top-rated getaway for snowmobilers, snowshoers, and backcountry skiers alike. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can even ski from the back of Vail’s Blue Sky Basin right to your door at Green Bridge Inn. Camp Hale: Explore the area of an old U.S. Army training facility first built in 1942 to train the 10th Mountain Division in winter and mountain warfare for combat during World War II. From Red Cliff, hike, off-road, or snowmobile up old train tracks to the Camp’s original location. The Camp can also be reached quickly by driving 7 miles South from Red Cliff on Highway 24. Homestake Reservoir: Ten miles South of Red Cliff on Highway 24 is Homestake Reservoir, a beautifully hidden lake that offers amazing views of the Holy Cross Wilderness area. This area offers amazing hiking, trout fishing, off-roading and more. Cemetery Loop: Pack up a lunch, grab your camelback, and take a walk along Cemetery Loop. The loop starts right up the hill from Red Cliff and takes you through the historic Red Cliff Cemetery, where early pioneers are buried, and past multiple boulders perfect for rock climbing and bouldering. The trail ends at Highway 24, which you will cross to descend down the Southern entrance to Red Cliff. Follow the road down along the river, which will soon turn under the Green Bridge, and take you right back into Red Cliff. The loop is easily accessible and open all year round.
